The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed the fire outbreak incident at Terminal one of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
This was made known in a statement issued on the authority’s X (formerly known as Twitter) handle on Monday.
FAAN said the firefighting team of the authority was currently responding and working to contain the situation and no loss of life had been recorded.
The authority said that further updates would be provided as more information becomes available.
NPO earlier Reported the fire outbreak at the terminal which left about 10 officials trapped at the control tower.
Emergency response operations were ongoing as FAAN firefighting teams continue efforts to fully contain and curtail the fire, while the orderly evacuation of passengers and airport personnel are continuing.
FAAN has said that to strengthen response efforts, the authority had activated mutual aid arrangements and called for reinforcements from the Lagos State Government, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, and other relevant emergency agencies.
“We wish to reassure the public that no loss of life has been recorded at this time, and all necessary measures are being taken to safeguard lives and property.
“Further verified updates will be communicated as the situation develops.” The statement partly read.
