The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has on Monday paid unannounced visit to three local airlines amid hike in price of flight tickets and customers’ complaints.
This was disclosed in a post shared on X on Tuesday by the NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Micheal Achimugu.
The NCAA boss recounted how he had alongside his team stormed the Abuja operational offices of Xejet, Rano Air, and United Nigeria Airline where they were received by the management of the domestic airlines.
In his address to staff of the Xejet, Achimugu expressed concern over ticket price hike, flight delays and poor communication to passengers by the airlines.
He charged the airline operators to adhere to the standards they set for themselves with the welfare of their passengers made a priority.
“You must be able to practice standards that you have set to yourself. Passengers shouldn’t be complaining about air tickets. You need to deal with you passengers with all honesty.
“What is difficult in facing passengers and telling them the truth that look, due to a technical issue that is being fixed, we do not have a specific time for departure.
“Please we are waiting for further information so that we will not lie to you. Any sensible passenger will take to that feedback properly and then sit down.
“Then how do you proceed from there? You offer them refreshment. And this information has to be intermittently. Don’t say I’m just there two hours ago.” He said.
