The National Assembly complex has on Tuesday morning come under heavy security presence over the planned resumption of suspended Kogi State lawmaker, Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
NPO Reported that the lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District had last week announced plan to resume to the Senate following the Federal High Court ruling which declared her six months suspension by the Red Chamber unconstitutional and excessive.
The court had ordered the Senate to reinstate Natasha back to the chamber.
Reacting to the ruling, the Senate insisted that the lawmaker still remains suspended as it is yet to receive the certified true copy of the judgement.
Natasha had however insisted that she will resuming on today, adding that a formal letter had been sent to the Senate to notify them of her return.
She made the announcement while addressing her constituents during training programme on Saturday.
This tends to explain the presence of the security operatives at the National Assembly premises in anticipation for the lawmaker’s return.
As captured in a video shared on X, security patrol van could be seen on standby with couple of Natasha’s supporters loitering around the National Assembly complex as they await the arrival of the lawmaker.
