Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, the father of Nigerian afrobeat singer, David Adeleke (Davido) and brother of the re-elected Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has revealed how the family defeated the Gboyega Oyetola-led APC at the just concluded 2026 Governorship Election in the state.
Adeleke claimed that the family defeated the APC and its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, without spending money during the election day unlike the APC which allegedly engage in vote-buying.
Recalling the pre-election and election activities at a special thanksgiving ceremony over Adeleke’s victory, the businessman recounted how Oyetola deployed Federal might as well as spending up to N50,000 on a single voter in a bid to defeat Adeleke.
“Record me and play it to him, let him hear. The reason why we defeated Oyetola is not because were bigger or have more money than him. On the election day, we did not spend any money.
‘They spent N60 billion. In some places, they got votes for as high as N50,000 for one single vote.’ He said.
On realising the amount disbursed by the APC for alleged vote buying, the businessman disclosed going to his prayer alter to pray to God using some selected Bible passage which include Isaiah 34 verse 10 and Psalms 121.
‘On the day of election when I heard the kind of money they were spending, I went back to the corner of my room and knelt down and prayed to God.
‘I said God Almighty, let the people collect their money, but let them vote for Ademola Adeleke.
‘When I kneel down to pray every day, I have some Bible passages that I read and that I pray with.
‘The first Bible passage that I read every morning when I pray why I was not afraid was not because we have more money, we didn’t even spend any money on election day, it was because my belief in God Almighty is very strong” he said.
Dr. Adeleke further recalled his prayer point in reference to the scriptures which gave him confidence about Adeleke’s imminent victory.
‘God Almighty shows for me. He showed for Ademola and put all of them to shame. Let them come with all their battalions, deploy all the army, and bring all the money from the Central Bank, nobody is above God Almighty.
I told God that Oyetola comes with his arrogance. He comes with his wickedness. He comes with the power that he thinks he has because he is connected to the presidency.
‘But Ademola Adeleke comes against them with the power of the Almighty. Therefore, Ademola defeats them, I repeated it seven times.
‘When people see that I am not worried, this is the reason.’ He said.
