Nigerian afrobeat singer, David Adeleke, popularly know as Davido, has boasted of the victory of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, at the 2026 Osun Governorship Election, before the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Davido, who accompanied Adeleke to Abuja for visit to President Bola Tinubu and Wike, bragged of defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government at the election.
His bragging had borne out of the reported usage of federal might during the election.
Though Wike is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which did not field any candidate at the gubernatorial election, Davido however bragged before him considering the fact that he serves under the APC-led administration.
The singer, in a light-hearted video posted on social media on Thursday, claimed that he defeated Wike and cohorts at the poll.
“I won. You can’t say that. I beat you down.” Davido said during the visit to the minister’s residence in Abuja.
Playing along, Wike cynically asked if indeed Davido defeated him.
This prompted others in the room to tell Davido to apologise which the singer reciprocated by prostrating before the minister.
Both men thereafter shared a hug as they laughed.
Meanwhile, the encounter between Davido and Wike is coming days after the FCT Minister attributed Adeleke’s victory to Tinubu’s decision to allow free and fair conduct of the election.
Speaking during an inspection tour, Wike dismissed claims of federal manipulation, saying:
“The President called him… congratulating him. If Tinubu did not allow a free and fair election, would they have won? No!”
He also debunked claims that federal might was deployed.
“Ask those who have survived it, people like me who survived federal might.” The minister said.
