The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has allegedly removed its Public Relations Officer, ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, barely six months after his appointment.
NPO Reported that Hundeyin was in September 2025 appointed as the Force new spokesperson following the promotion and redeployment of his predecessor, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, to the Delta State Police Command.
Hundeyin’s tenure however appeared to have been short-lived as reports suggested that his removal on Thursday.
It was learnt that the approval for Hundeyin’s removal was given on Thursday, March 5, 2025.
This is coming barely a week after a change of leadership in the Force which was Olatunji Disu appointed as the new substantive Inspector-General of Police.
NPO Reported that Disu had emerged as the 23rd Inspector-General of Police following his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The new IGP was yesterday sworn-in by the President, marking his official takeover from the immediate past Police chief, Kayode Egbetokun, who resigned from the role.
While the circumstances surrounding the sudden development, is still unclear with no official statement confirming his removal, a source within the Force quoted by The Whistler, disclosed that Hundeyin has been removed.
The source noted that such development is often expected in Force whenever a new Inspector-General of Police is appointed
He however stated that the removal of Hundeyin was unexpected.
“The Force Public Relations Officer has been removed this morning.”
“We don’t know who will take over from him, although we thought he would last longer considering his expertise,
“However, when a new IGP is appointed, it is not news that some positions would be vacant, unfortunately, he was affected.” The source said.
