President Bola Tinubu has confirmed the success of the rescue operation for the release of the kidnapped Oyo students and teachers, stressing that no ransom was paid to secure their release.
The president made this known in a statement issued on his official X handle few hours after the victims abducted on the 15th of May by suspected Ansaru terrorists regained their freedom on Friday.
Tinubu said that the children and teachers were all rescued alive and unharmed with no concession made with their abductors.
He hailed the security personnel who embarked on the operation to rescue the victims.
“Tonight, our nation has reason to give thanks.
“The children and teachers abducted by Ansaru terrorists in Oyo State have been rescued by our security forces, alive and unharmed. No ransom was paid.
“No concession was made. I salute every officer and operative whose courage, discipline, and professionalism made this possible.” He said.
Meanwhile, the president sent a note of warning to other insurgents as he reaffirmed his commitment to the protection of Nigerians.
“To those who seek to spread fear through terror, know that the Nigerian state will pursue you relentlessly.
“We will protect our people, defend our communities, and never relent until peace and security prevail across our country.” He said,
