Says Election Results Still Under Review
- Safiu Kehinde
The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has broken its silence days after its defeat at the 2026 Osun Governorship Election.
NPO Reported that the party’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, was beaten at the poll by the incumbent governor and Accord Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke, who recorded 511,067 votes as against Oyebamiji’s 444, 811 votes.
Speaking on the results during an interview on Arise TV on Monday evening, the Osun APC Governorship Campaign’s Director-General, Oluwole Oke, disclosed that the party is still reviewing the outcome of the election.
Oke held that the party cannot congratulate Adeleke until the conclusion of its review.
The Osun APC Campaign DG however maintained that Adeleke did not score the highest valid vote at the poll.
‘Based on the announcement of INEC, what we are doing is to conduct a thorough review of the entire process.
‘We won’t be under any pressure to hastily reach out to congratulate Senator Ademola Adeleke because we believed he did not score the highest valid vote.
‘But like I submitted, we are studying and inspecting the record. Very soon, we would make our position known to the members of the public.’ He said.
While the party did not outrightly reject the result of the election, Oke’s statement however hinted the likelihood of APC challenging the result of the election before the tribunal, particularly over the claim that Adeleke did not secure the highest valid vote despite defeating Oyebamiji with a margin of 66,256 votes.
