A police officer has raised public eyebrow after issuing threat to kill anyone who films him while on duty.
The officer, identified by his TikTok handle as Newton Isokpehi, issued the threat in a viral video circulated on social media on Tuesday.
Speaking in pidgin, he slammed senior police officers who encourage citizens to record officers on duty as he vowed to shoot anyone that attempt such with him.
“Any day when I dey duty as an officer, I dey with my rifle, make somebody video me. Make that Oga wey give una order say make una dey video us, na him go bury you.
‘If dem born anybody well, video me when I’m on duty.’ He said.
The officer, who claimed to have been in the Force since the past 26 years, further slammed the Nigeria Police Force over poor welfare condition of officers as he revealed gunshot wounds on his body.
He reiterated his threat to kill all passengers of any bus conveying anyone who records him.
‘I’ve performing my duty lawful in the Nigeria Police for 26 years.
“Monkey dey work, baboon dey chop. All my body na gunshots full am.
“We dey suffer every time. Uniform, una no fit buy. Nothing una fit do for us. Who die, die throway.
“If dem born you well, just carry your camera come around anywhere I dey and con do video.
“I will clear everybody down. The whole full bus, except the person no stand near you. I will clear everybody down. I swear to God. If I no do am make I die.” He said.
Meanwhile, the officer commended the effort of the new Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, for prioritisng the welfare of police personnel, especially the retired officers.
“If no be dis IG wey just come new now begin dey try to amend things. He helps people.
“Look at those wey their Papa and Mama don die since how many years, which day this IGP enter now, he begin give them their insurance and benefits.” He said.
However, the officer’s threat had sparked mixed reactions from the public as some netizens agreed with his displeasure over the filming of officers on duty while others condemned him.
