Command Confirms Arrest of Suspects
Residents of the Oju-Ore area of Ota, in Ogun state have cried out over the killing of a man by officials of the So-Safe Corps in the neighbourhood.
NPO Reports could not ascertain what led to the killing of the man but a video making the rounds which was recorded by a concerned resident showed a building, a bungalow, along the Coca-Cola Road where the dead body was being kept after officials of So-Safe Corps in the area tortured the man until he died.
The voice behind the video alleged that residents were being prevented from recording videos to establish evidence, NPO Reports observed that some angry residents had gathered and blocked the road to Ojuore to register their protests against the killing of the man.
“They have tortured someone to death and the body is in this building that I am I am zooming into. They don’t want us to record it,” the person could be heard saying
So-Safe Corps is the Ogun State Community Social Orientation and Safety Corps, a security arm of the State Government said to have been legally established to operate with constitutional responsibilities to fight against crimes and criminality in communities.
NPO Reports gathered from authoritative sources that suspects linked to the killing were arrested on Friday and taken to the command headquarters in Abeokuta.
