Vice President Kashim Shettima and former President Olusegun Obasanjo, have both graced the swearing-in ceremony of Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, months after his re-election for a second term tenure.
NPO Reported that Soludo had in the November 2025 Governorship election emerged winner of the poll with a total of 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, who scored 99,445 votes.
The governor would however be formally sworn in on Tuesday at Awka, the state’s capital.
Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, Shettima and Obasanjo arrived at the Anambra International Airport in the early hours of Tuesday.
Videos shared on Instagram captured moment the duo arrived at the airport with Soludo personally receiving the Vice President and former President.
Shettima and Obasanjo would be joined at the venue of the swearing-in ceremony by former President Goodluck Jonathan.
While the event is still ongoing as at the time of filing this report, Soludo in his address expressed his gratitude to the dignitaries for their presence.
He highlighted some of his accomplishment in his first four years which include dismantling of 62 criminal groups and cancellation of Sit-at-Home order.
Soludo also declared that Anambra is now one of the safest states in Nigeria, adding that Anambra now has lowest out-of-school children in Nigeria with 2.5 percent according to UNIICEF.
On his plan for the second term tenure, the governor maintained that his administration will consolidate the ongoing transformation across all sectors in the state,.
“Over the next four years, we are changing to gear four to consolidate the ongoing transformation across all sectors; accelerate actions to secure spaces and pillars for prosperities of the generation yet unborn and to institutionalise change.”
Soludo however maintained that security and electricity will remain a priority.
