The United States has included the submission of at least five years social media history in it visa application requirements.
This was disclosed in a X post shared by the US Mission in Nigeria on Monday.
According to the post, visa applicants are now required to submit all their social media usernames or handles they have used from the last five years.
The Mission warned that the omission of the social media information can lead to visa denial and ineligiblity for future visas.
“Visa applicants are required to list all social media usernames or handles of every platform they have used from the last 5 years on the DS-160 visa application form.
“Applicants certify that the information in their visa application is true and correct before they sign and submit. Omitting social media information could lead to visa denial and ineligibility for future visas.” The post read.
The latest development is coming under the heels of the immigration policy of President Donald Trump.
Trump had since his return to the White House tightened the US Immigration policy in an effort to clamp down influx of illegal immigrants into the United State.
He was ordered series of mass deportation while putting many countries on their toes with his strict immigration policies.
