A middle-aged woman has been rescued by local boat operators after jumping into the Lagos lagoon.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday when the woman plunged into the lagoon from the Idumota-Carter Bridge.
This caused panic among commuters and residents in the area before the swift intervention of the boat operators, who successfully brought her to safety.
Fortunately, she was rescued unhurt.
Videos recorded after the rescue showed the visibly distressed and traumatised woman sitting at the middle of rescue boat as onlookers were left in shock as they wondered what led the yet-to-be identified woman to take such suicide dive into the lagoon.
Some residents of the area urged the boat operator not to hand her over to the police.
The circumstances that led to suicide attempt by the woman still remain unclear as at the time of filing this report.
