Legendary Nigerian musician, Abolore Akande, popularly known as 9ice, has disclosed vomiting blood for a period of six months during his active years in the music industry.
9ice made the disclosure while speaking in an interview on Nancy Isime Show on Sunday.
The singer had claimed that the music industry is highly spiritual with the devil majorly controlling the industry.
“When you sing as an artist, watch what you say in words because devil controls music. Devil is the choirmaster. That’s why we smoke and do all these things we do.
“Music generally, devil controls it. If you are coming into this industry, understand where you are coming to. Go to the world, let me see how many people that will follow you. Let me stay there and see how many people that will follow me.” He said.
The Gongo Aso crooner who confirmed being an Ifa worshipper would then share one of his spiritual challenges, recounting how he was vomiting blood for six months between 2009 to 2010.
He disclosed that the incident marked the beginning of his adoption of traditionalism as his introduced to Ifa during the challenge.
“When I dey vomit blood for like six months in my own house, I had to leave my house around 2010, 2009. It wasn’t a medical condition. I’m not Christian, I’m not Muslim. I’m babalawo. I tell people and they run away from me. For me, I’m African and that is what I practice.
“The first time I experienced Ifa was when I was vomiting that blood. And someone just told me to go and consult ifa so that I can be protected. I said okay and I did it.
“I just wish I had known ifa from the beginning. When Fela was talking, Fela used to go to Ogun and they were like this guy what is he doing?” He said.
In defense of his belief, 9ice held that that Africa belongs to black people and has its own prophets.
“God said I will never come to you in a different language from your people. You will understand later that this black continent is for black people, and we have our own messengers. We have our own prophets.
“Go back to your house, ask your Mum or your dad or your grandpa. They will tell you what they do in your house.
“Na only one road enter Lekki Phase One? You can pass through this way, I can pass through this way. Just get there with sincerity and loyalty. That’s all.” The singer added.
