Nigerian journalist and Arise TV’s host, Oseni Rufai, has slammed Nollywood actor-turned-politician, Desmond Elliot, over viral video of him apologising to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabimaila.
NPO Reported that Elliot had in a video making rounds on social media knelt before Gbajabiamila as he apologised over the political rift between them.
Recall that the rift had cost Elliot his re-election bid into the Lagos State House of Assembly as he lost the ticket for the Surulere Constituency 1 seat at the All Progressives Congress Primary Election.
The lawmaker fell out of favour from the sight of Gbajabiamila, who was considered as his political godfather, over his role in the impeachment plot against the Lagos Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.
Months after the primaries, Elliot returned to the former House of Representatives speaker, kneeling before him as he pleaded for forgiveness.
Reacting during Arise TV’s Morning Show on Monday, Oseni slammed Elliot as he labelled the gesture as an abberation.
‘You can now see the kind of politics we play that it is a politics of crawlers, boot lickers, and people that will lick the hands of their benefactors and do anything.
‘Dr. Abati, this is an aberration. This is why Nigeria will never go far. How can you dehumanise a man?’ He said.
Meanwhile, Oseni alleged that Elliot was coerced to kneel before Gbajabiamila as he recalled the former Nollywood actor’s protest against the APC during the primaries.
‘He was coerced to kneel down after they have collected Sunday from his hand and give him Tuesday. When he has nowhere to go again, won’t he kneel down.
‘Was he not first fighting. Ws this Desmond Elliot not first shouting that I will fight. But when he saw that Oga na master, he was made to hold the shirt of his oga and they removed him from the position.
‘You can see the kind of politics we play. Now because he wants something else in the future, he is now crawling to beg his oga.
‘Probabaly, they will look for one position to put him again. You can now see how people cannot live beyond politics. This is exactly the problem with Nigeria.’ He said.
