The alleged presence of bandits has sparked panic in a school community in Ekiti state as viral video showed students fleeing from their school.
As captured in the video shared on Friday by a Facebook user, Bowale Adepoju, the Ayetoro/Iloro High School students were seen running.
Adepoju claimed to have spotted the students while driving along the road with his pickup fan on Friday morning.
The Facebook user who had an escort in the car recounted how the students had initially mistaken him and his escort for the bandits as they fled every time he attempted to stop the car and approach them.
He was eventually able to get the attention of some of the students who disclosed that they were dismissed from school following report of alleged presence of bandits around the school environment.
“On my way out this morning, I saw some very distressed students of Ayetoro/lloro high school.
“One thing was sure, there was an issue as they were running fearfully on the road. The more I tried to stop, the more they ran which then confirmed my thought that something happened.
“Behold, they were dismissed from school because they got the intel that the bad boys were around.” Adepoju wrote.
Some of the students could be heard pleading with the men to help them as they were offered a ride.
“Please give us a ride. It’s the bandits.” The visibly frightened students with some hopping on the van.
Meanwhile, Adepoju called for the establishment of military and police checkpoints in the school axis which accroding to him is an isolated area.
“This is an open appeal to all concerned government agencies in Ekiti state to as a matter of urgency activate every security apparatus in the state across schools.
“It’s also noteworthy that Ayetoro/lloro high school is sited in bushy and isolated area hence the need to urgently mount a police or military checkpoint along that axis.
“May God help our government and may he continue to protect us amen.” He said.
