A former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and deposed Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has met with the coup leaders in Niger Republic.
His meeting on Wednesday came shortly after the junta declined to meet with representatives of African Union (AU).
In a video currently in circulation, Sanusi was seen in company of the Sultan of Damagaran during a visit to the coup leader, Abdourahmane Tiani.
Damagaran is the third largest city in Niger.
The new military leaders had on Tuesday vowed to resist any form of external interference in the affairs of Niger.
The Economic Community of West Africa had hinted of a possible military intervention to reinstate the ousted President Mohammed Bazoum.
