The Lagos state emergency management agency, Saturday morning prevented a fire disaster after its men stopped a leaking gas truck from catching fire.
In a press statement issued by the Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA Mr Adebayo Taofiq quoted Lastma Officer Akinde Olusola of Zone 3, Iponri area of Surulere to have confirmed that a gas laden truck with registration no KRD 281 XL hit the newly erected barrier by the government at Alaka inward Stadium. Zebra Olusola confirmed further that in an attempt for gas truck to force itself under the newly erected barrier had its content (gas) spilled on the main garriage by Akaka inward Stadium bridge.
“According to Zebra Olusola “Immediately the incident occured Lastma officials quickly invited other energency responders particularly the Lagos State Fire Service and condoned off the main carriage way at Alaka by Stadium bridge for motorists to avert any fire outbreak” “While the driver of the truck was arrested and handed over to Police men from Area ‘C’ Divisional Police Station, vehicular movement were diverted to service lane from Alaka to continue their movement inward Ojuelegba by Lastma Officials” The General Manager of LASTMA Mr Bolaji Oreagba said the newly errected barrier at Stadium bridge was to divert heavy trucks to service lane from Alaka inward Staduim down to Ojuelegba. Mr. Oreagba however enjoined heavy truck drivers to always make use of the service lane whenever they are embarking on any journey around Stadium to Ojuelegba area of Lagos.”

There is panic in the National Stadium, Surulere area of Lagos Saturday morning after gas leakage was noticed near a hotel.
NPO Reports could not confirm the main source of the leakage, but as at the time of filing this report, emergency officials had suspended vehicular movements to avert any explosion or fire outbreak.
A water truck was also noticed nearby as officials of the Lagos state Traffic Management Agency, stopped vehicles from proceeding with their journeys.
The leakage is said to be coming from a hotel while motorists moving inward Ojuelegba were stopped. The scene is also near the National Stadium, Surulere Lagos.
As at the time of filing this report, there was no official statement on the main source of the leakage.
