The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, has confirmed the receipt of the letter from the ailing Governor Rotimi Akeredolu transmitting power to his deputy, Lucky Ayedatiwa.
Oladiji said he had informed members of the House on the meeting with President Bola Tinubu and that they have approved the letter of the governor.
Oladiji said there won’t be any sitting on the matter as he will release a press statement after concluding the process of transmitting power to the deputy governor.
In his statement, the Speaker said Aiyedatiwa would now assume the responsibilities of the governor in acting capacity until there is a written declaration to the contrary.
NPO Reports that Akeredolu, in a statement on Wednesday said he was embarking on a fresh medical leave hence the decision to inform the House.
The state has come under tension in recent times over the health conditions of Akeredolu, who flew back into the country but stayed back in his Ibadan residence to preside over the affairs of the state.
The continued absence of the Governor in Ondo had raised questions as many called on the governor to either resign or hand over power to his deputy.
