A concerned Nigerian has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to act over reports of vandalism on the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway.
In a video posted by the citizen identified simply as Ade, some of the barricades used to demarcate the roads were seen to have been vandalized.
He warned that poor local oversight may be responsible for the situation.
NPO reports that the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway which is valued at about N15 trillion is one of the key infrastructure projects of the current administration.
Ade said the reported vandalism could slow down construction and reduce the long-term value of the project. He therefore urged the government to take quick action to stop further damage.
“It is not too late to take decisive corrective action,” he stated.
“Your Excellency, the N15tn Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, one of your signature legacy projects is reportedly being vandalized daily, largely due to lapses in local oversight/incompetence.
“It is not too late to take decisive corrective action.
“Best regards, Ade”
The highway is expected to improve transport along Nigeria’s coastal regions. It is also projected to boost trade, create jobs, and support economic growth.
