The Department of State Service (DSS) has allegedly rearrested the embattled former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, shortly after fulfilling his bail condition and released from Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja.
NPO Reported that Malami was alongside his wife and son arraigned to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 16-count charge bordering on alleged money laundering worth over N9 billion.
The ex-AGF and his family would in December appear before the Federal High Court, Abuja.
They were subsequently remanded in Kuje prison pending the hearing of their bail application.
At the resumption of the hearing earlier, the court would grant the trio N500 million bail each.
In his ruling on the bail application, the presiding judge, Justice Emeka Nwite, further demanded that Malami produce two sureties who will stand for him in the like sum.
The judge also ordered that the two sureties must have landed properties in Maitama, Asokoro or Gwarimpa.
He ordered that the ex-AGF be returned to Kuje prison pending the fulfilment of the bail application.
Malami would on Monday fulfil the bail application and was immediately released.
He would however be received by DSS operatives who ushered him to their waiting van.
As captured in a viral video shared on X, Malami could be heard demanding to know the team leader with his ID card.
“Who is the Oga among you? Can I see your ID Card” the ex-AGF asked before being assisted into the vehicle.
The cause of his re-arrest largely remain unknown as the DSS is yet to confirm the development.
