The Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, is set to speak on Local Government Autonomy at the Agora Policy Conversation.
Edun, who is the keynote speaker of the event, will be speaking on the theme; Local Governance Reform a Year after Supreme Court’s Ruling.
The event, organized by Agora Policy in partnership with the Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity, the Cable, and African Cities Research Consortium, is slated to commence by 9:30am today at the Yar’Adua event centre, Abuja.
It will also feature panelists discussions with the National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Bello Yandaki, and the Chairman, Forum of Finance Commissioners, Akin Oyebode, as members of the panelist.
Other panelists include the Secretary General of the Women’s Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative (WRAPA), Suadatu Mahdi; Executive Director of Yiaga Africa, Samson Itodo, and the Executive Director of the Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity (CFPTI), Dr. Umar Yakubu.
The guest speakers of the event include the Chairperson of Agora Policy, Ojobo Atuluku; Country Director of the MacArthur Foundation, Dr. Kole Shettima; CEO African Cities Research Consortium, Prof. Diana Miitlin; University of Ibadan’s Political Science don, Prof. Remind Aiyede; and the World Bank’s Lead Governance Specialist, Deborah Isser.
