Residents of Ayegun Oleyo community in Ibadan, Oyo State, have cried out over alleged land grabbing by popular Nigerian Real Estate company, ADRON Homes and Properties.
The members of the community had in a now viral shared on X on Friday video revealed how the company had yesterday stormed the site with bulldozer, thugs, and armed security personnel.
One of the residents who spoke in Yoruba called for government intervention as he recounted how the bulldozer had encroached and cleared a portion of land which belongs to the community and outside the fenced perimeter of the original portion acquired by the real estate company.
He disclosed that there is a pending court case over the land acquired by the company which the community denied selling to ADRON.
“We never sold our land to ADRON in Ayegun Oreyo. We are the owners of Abaoke Igbo Olowo. We already made our stance known to him but he went ahead or bring hooligans and bulldozer here yesterday. They encroached our land and levelled it. We are currently in court with a ruling barring him from embarking on any work here. He came here with hooligans, armed policemen and caterpillar.
“The land he is trying to be grab now was where he was barred from three years ago.” The resident said
Reacting in a telephone conversation with NPO Reports correspondent, an ADRON official , dismissed the allegations made by the residents.
He disclosed that the estate in question had been purchased by the company for over five years some portion already sold out.
“ADRON will never encroach anybody’s land. All land purchased by us are well documented.
“ADRON have brought the land for more than five years with people already living there.” He said.
While acknowledging the pending court case over the land in question, the official accused the agitating residents of assaulting some staff of the company four days ago.
