The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has accused supporters of the Accord Party of flooding the media space with false, AI-generated governorship election results.
In a statement by the APC spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, the party said the Accord Party members were usurping the role of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, by declaring “fake election results” from various wards across the state.
The statement warned the public to disregard the results being circulated online, saying only INEC has the constitutional mandate to conduct and announce election results.
“It is a statement of fact that INEC is the only corporate body constitutionally empowered to conduct and duly declare the results of the election,” Olabisi said.
“This translates to the fact that election results from other sources outside the national election umpire could be described as an illegality,” he added.
