Nigerian senator Ifeanyi Ubah has died.
NPO Reports learnt that Ubah, a known Nigerian businessman before he ventured into politics, died in a London hotel.
It was gathered that Ubah left Nigeria two days ago on a mission that is unknown yet.
Details of his death are yet unclear.
Ubah, who was elected to the Senate on the platform of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) defected to the All Progressive Congress.
It was gathered that his decision to defect to the APC was to aid his ambition to be the next governor of Anambra state.
He currently represents Anambra South senatorial district in the Red Chamber.
A competent source who spoke with the NPO Reports Saturday morning said that most of his colleagues only knew of his trip to London when they did not see him at the wedding ceremony of the son of one of them, Senator Abah Moro (Benue) on Thursday.
Ubah was said to be intensifying efforts towards realising his ambition to be governor. For instance, a source said he has met some key executives of the ruling party at the centre towards getting their support ahead of the next poll in the state.
Most senators were taken aback when the information was posted on their whatsapp platform on Saturday.
It was also learnt that members of the senate are calling on one of them Adeniyi Adegbonmire (Ondo Cehtral) who is also said to be in London at the moment to go ahead and provide the senate president with the details of Ubah’s death. He was yet to get back on the details as at the time of filing this report.
“Initially, I thought the condolences was still about Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyawu who were all discussing with many tributes on the platform. But it dawned on me that the tributes had shifted from Iwuanyawu to one of us, Ubah. It is so sad,” said one of the senators who spoke with the NPO Reports.
