The Police Service Commission (PSC) has promoted seven Assistant Inspector-Generals of Police (AIGs) to the rank of Deputy Inspector-Generals of Police (DIGs).
This is coming amid speculations of the retirement of all the current DIGs, including the veteran Frank Mba.
While no official announcement has been made as regards the retirement of the previous DIGs, reports revealed that the DIGs have been asked to step aside as part of the ongoing leadership reshuffle within the Force since its takeover by new Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu,
The promotion of the seven AIGs to DIGs however signaled confirmation of the Mba’s retirement alongside the six other old DIGs.
Meanwhile, the newly promoted DIGs include Zachariah Fera Achinyan, fdc (formerly AIG Zone 4, Makurdi), Zango Ibrahim Baba (formerly AIG Department of Logistics and Supply), Isyaku Mohammed (formerly AIG Armament, Force Headquarters, Abuja), and Margaret Agebe Ochalla (formerly AIG FCID Annex, Lagos).
Others include Mohammed Abdul Sulaiman, mni (formerly AIG Police Accounts and Budget, Force Headquarters, Abuja), Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, fdc (formerly AIG Zone 15, Maiduguri), and Umar Shehu Nadada, mni (formerly AIG Zone 14, Katsina).
