The Lagos State Police Command has bust a car theft syndicate in the state with four suspects arrested.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin.
According to the statement, the syndicate was dismantled by the Command’s operatives attached to the Tactical Team Isheri, with a stolen Toyota Hiace bus recovered from the arrested suspects.
The operation leading to the arrest was carried out on the 1st August 2025 following a distress call on a suspected case of car theft involving one 31-year-old Salisu Abdullahi.
Acting swiftly on the report, detectives deployed intelligence-driven techniques which led to the arrest of the principal suspect, Salisu, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Further investigation led to the arrest of three accomplices: 45-year-old Yenusa Salihu; a mechanic; Baba Jero Idris, car dealer; and Abdullahi Aliyu, a businessman.
All three were apprehended in Kano State, and the operation also resulted in the recovery of the stolen grey Toyota Hiace bus in the same location.
The suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of the ongoing investigation. The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commends the operatives for the swift and intelligence-led approach that led to dismantling of the car theft syndicate.
He assures visitors and residents of Lagos State that the Command will continue to deploy cutting-edge policing strategies to curb vehicle theft and bring elements to justice.
